With over 15 years of worth knowledge from the game under his belt, seeing him mix ten of 11 Jay-Z albums as well as Eminem?s 8 Mile?soundtrack?and?Little Brother?s classic The Minstrel Show, legendary sound engineer Young Guru chooses to send a large part of his time sharing his fruits of wisdom with fellow?music enthusiasts, up and coming artists, producers and DJs.
Amongst his many jobs and duties the former African history?lecturer has also been curating his discussion series Sound & Vision at?92YTribeca in New York City,?inviting a group of varying special guests to join him onstage and converse about music industry trends and the creative process behind some of today?s most revered pieces of work, be they visual, audio and everything in between.
For the inaugural?episode of the series, Young Guru sat down with producers?Sean C & LV to discuss their come up and the art of sampling.?In the series? most recent installment Guru brought together some of the leading?practitioners?in music?s visual viral game,?Coodie & Chike of Creative Control, Jason Goldwatch of DECON and the highly respected and much sought after Rik Cordero of Three/21 Media,?to discuss video production and how said art form has changed in the last few years.
The third installment, featuring social media expert?Dr. Sinan Aral,?BitTorrent?s Executive Director of Marketing?Matt Mason?and Maxell?s Director of Technology and New Product Planning?Rich D?Ambrise, will take place this coming Wednesday August 14 and will center around how?technology has changed?entertainment, the future of the entertainment industry and what kind of impact advancements in data sharing will have on artists and their fans.
