Washington, July 30, 2012 (MAP)
King Mohammed VI is a visionary sovereign and guardian of a long-standing legitimacy that makes the Moroccan exception in its regional environment, Peter Pham, head of the Michael S. Ansari Africa Center, told MAP news agency.
Since his enthronement, the sovereign carried out an ambitious agenda of reforms which epitomizes the royal approach, always in touch with the people?s aspirations and concerned for their well-being, Pham said, adding that this symbiosis take strength in the Monarchy?s centuries-old legitimacy and the sacred allegiance ties uniting the sovereign and the people.
He explained that contrary to the majority of countries of the region where the concept of a nation state was built on the ruins of the Ottoman Empire, Morocco possesses an over 12 century old history. ?Under the reign of the 15th sultan of the Alaouite dynasty Mohammed III, Morocco was in 1777 the first country to recognize the independence of the United States,? he recalled.
